I couldn't fix my primary installation of SL. I tried the usual troubleshooting suspects, etc no joy. I did a clean installation of Snow Leopard on a new drive, but I did migrate all my apps and files, so that dirtied it up again. The beachball for me is typically 1 min and I never noticed a difference with interleaved files (but I wasn't looking for it either) Glad this thread surfaced as I have a couple things to try.īut I will add this for DTS to consider. This is very similar to the problem that I have been having, but not in all the details. If only i could get those four hours back! I now have v8.0.3cs2 up and running and it loads samples and loops quickly without any spinning beach balls of death! Turns out, on my mac, i use a time capsule with wifi that has a 1TB wireless hard drive that i don't use for pro tools, but i keep mp3s and videos on it so i can access it anywhere via wifi and that was messing up the import of samples somehow.Īfter UNMOUNTING these drives, it works perfectly! on my laptop, it's a two finger tap on the track pad. the orange icons are the hard drives connected by an actual cable. in my window, it's everything that has a blue icon. once pro tools is open and the workspace window is open, you need to "UNMOUNT" the networks/servers and wireless hard drives, even with the internet turned off. in workspace, i now have additional disc icons (SHOWING MY WIRELESS DRIVES AND NETWORKS/SERVERS EVEN WITH MY AIRPORT TURNED OFF)

the workspace showed only my external hard drives (AND NOT ANY WIRELESS DRIVES OR NETWORKS/SERVERS). V8.0.1 and v8.0.1cs1 (63451) worked with no additional steps. i have tested this with each version and it works for me. after four hours of uninstalling, downloading, and reinstalling i believe i have figured it out.
